INSPIRATION FROM THE VALLEY
Where To Dine & Drink
Restaurants, coffee shops, wineries and breweries in the Willamette Valley
restaurants
The Newbergundian BIstro
A family owned restaurant with a casual, yet upscale vibe reminiscent of a french bistro. Start your dining experience off with fresh oysters on the half shell and a glass of willamette valley wine as you await an entree you’ll be sure to love.
Ruddick/Wood
In the heart of historic downtown Newberg is a gem that’s near to my heart. Whether you’re looking for a fine dining experience or a casual speak-easy vibe, Ruddick/Wood offers the best of both worlds with two separate spaces. Set in a dimly lit early 1900’s building you’ll discover a creative menu with locally sourced ingredients. If you see a tall, curly-headed man in a hat, say Hello to the owner Paul and tell ‘em Kassandra sent you!
Earth & Sea
If you want an incredible seafood meal, paired with a wine list that highlights the very best of the Willamette Valley, look no further than Earth & Sea. Hot tip - don’t underestimate the appetizers, their specialty may be seafood, but the Gruyere Mac & Cheese stole my heart almost as much as the butter-dipped king crab and lobster did.
Park & Main
With wood-fired pizza, craft ice cream, freshly prepared deli items, and a marketplace full of local artisanal goods, Park and Main is a must visit in the small Wine Country town of Carlton. Make yourself at home in the family-friendly environment that’s made all the better when the owner, Dustin, personally comes to your table to see if you’re enjoying your experience.
Dos Mundos
Tucked between a pawn shop and a tire & auto is a little family owned food truck that serves, hands down, the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Expect a small wait time to receive your food, but trust me, it’s worth it. Enjoy your food in their small seating area, or take it to-go to have it picnic style at Herbert Hoover Park or Memorial Park.
Red Hills Market
Red Hills Market is a go-to spot in the small town of Dundee (the gateway to Wine Country). Serving up everything from coffee and pastries, to wood fired pizza and sandwiches, and even to-go picnic items like local wine and delicious cheeses. With a large outdoor patio, it’s a great spot to grab a bite or a drink before heading out on your Willamette Valley adventure.
coffee shops
Carlton Bakery
A beautiful, newly re-constructed space in Downtown Carlton where you’ll find high-quality, freshly baked pastries and locally sourced goods.
Chapters Books and Coffee
A classic Newberg staple where you’ll find a bright, beautiful space, new and used books, and the best chai in town. If you smell freshly made waffle cone, that’s coming from a small batch Ice Cream shop called Cream Northwest that lives inside the cafe.
caravan coffee
What started in the 1990’s inside the founders garage has become one of the best coffee shops around. With high quality and ethical standards, Caravan offers an experience with each cup. Tucked away in a corner of town you’d otherwise might not visit is a place you’d definitely be missing out on if you didn’t. My favorite order: An oat milk honey cinnamon latte.
beer & wine
WOLVES & PEOPLE FARMHOUSE BREWERY
Wood-aged, wild, and farmhouse-style beers in a rustic barn setting with incredible views and a hazelnut farm.
Alexana Winery
Highly rated wines that show off the diversity and complexity of the Willamette Valley, due to the unique position of the estate vineyard. Also, a beautiful tasting room with those classic rolling hill views.
L'Angolo Estate
Stunning modern architecture to reflect the philosophy of the wine and the PNW landscape, 20 acres of vines, and 100% organic wine. Oh, and a stock pile of Pendleton Blankets. Need I say more?
Brooks Wine
A biodynamic winery that produces world-class Pinot Noir and Riesling. Enjoy views of five mountain peaks on a clear day along with a wonderful seasonal food menu.
Eminent Domaine
A family run vineyard and tasting room that focuses on Pinot noir and Chardonnay. Beautiful views and wine by the glass, bottle, or flight. Eminent Domaine welcomes you to bring some food to enjoy a picnic at one of their outdoor lawn tables on a first-come, first-serve basis March through October.
Durant at red ridge farms
Lavender fields, an Olive Mill, a premier purveyor of Oregon milled Extra Virgin Olive Oil, nature trails, gardens, and estate grown and crafted wine. There’s not a whole lot that Durant doesn’t offer. And yes, I wouldn’t put it on the list if you didn’t also get the incredible views. ;)
