Carlton Oregon Countryside Maternity Session

I saw these photographs in my head before it all came together. White sheets hung up on a clothesline in the forest. A silky cream-colored dress. A mama-to-be, barefoot and soaking it all in.
I used to worry that artistic visions like these were an imposition. An egotistical pursuit that I was forcing upon my subjects for the sake of aesthetics. It’s always been a primary goal of mine to never let my own desire for something beautiful block me from seeing the truth of what’s in front of me. Sometimes to a fault.
I’ve since come to realize that it is quite literally my job to have an artistic vision, and to share it with the wonderful humans who find themselves in front of my lens. And that it isn’t a manipulation of truth, it’s a gift to give that accentuates the truth.
So thankful for this gorgeous mama for being open to my ideas. And to my future humans that want to create together — I am your bottomless cookie jar of ideas. Please, use me up.
Inspired creation is a trust fall. But magic is often found on the other side of mystery.
