Mirror Lake Rainy Engagement | Mt. Hood, Oregon

Karen & Daniel

There is a certain kind of magic that comes with the rain in Oregon. The forest greens are vibrant, the streams move a little faster, and the scent of wet earth is everywhere. Even though our initial reason for hiking to Mirror Lake was to see Mt. Hood for Karen and Daniel’s engagement session, I wasn’t worried when I saw clouds and rain in the forecast.

We spent our hike through the woods chatting about Karen and Daniel’s adventures through the Pacific Northwest. They’d recently found out that they’d been accepted for a permit to get married in Yosemite, and would be road-tripping south for the event in a few days. I was amazed when Karen told me that the date they had the permit for was the exact date that was written on a photograph of her and her dad in Yosemite when she was young. How perfectly meant to be.

It’s those kinds of memories and feelings, the ones of excited anticipation, that’re worth holding onto and cherishing forever. So grateful I got to document a little bit of that for these two.
